We all know that the future of Europe depends upon young people. Europe needs more entrepreneurs and more innovation. This is why it is necessary to stimulate the entrepreneurial mind-sets of young people.
Through the Entrepreneurship 2020 Action Plan and the Rethinking Education Communication, the European Commission has emphasised the need to embed entrepreneurial learning in all sectors of education including non-formal learning.
What is Entrepreneurship?
The European Reference Framework for key competences for lifelong learning defines entrepreneurship as "A sense of initiative and entrepreneurship is the ability to turn ideas into action. It involves creativity, innovation and risk-taking, as well as the ability to plan and to manage projects in order to achieve objectives."
Entrepreneurship education is about enabling young people to develop the skills they need for life and work, it is about inspiring entrepreneurial potential. People need the mind-set, skills and knowledge to generate creative ideas, and the entrepreneurial initiative to turn those ideas into action.
These crucial skills are teachable and must be integrated into educational subjects at all levels.
How? Let´s find out.
This group is happy to welcome all eTwinning teachers of different subjects, of all age-groups of pupils, who find entrepreneurial education and entrepreneurial mindset usefull for their pupils. If you want to keep updated about the activities of the group, join our Facebook group "Teacherpreneurs" and follow #entetw.
Ariel Sacks used the term Teacherpreneur when writing about Education in 2030. She predicted that the schools of 2030 will need growing numbers of teacherpreneurs, which she described as teacher leaders of proven accomplishment who have a deep knowledge of how to teach, a clear understanding of what strategies must be in play to make schools highly successful, and the skills and commitment to spread their expertise to others.
Etwinning Teacherpreneurs are risk-taking teachers, who implement innovation and are willing to give pupils the attitudes, knowledge and skills to act in an entrepreneurial way.
I am excited to welcome them back together with newcomers and hope we all will enjoy learning from each other.
