What is Resilience?
It comes from Latin resilire “to bounce back”. Resilience refers to the capacity to return to good mental health after challenging and difficult situation.
It is ability to cope with problems and setbacks, to adapt and bounce back when things don´t go as planned. Resilience does not erase life's difficulties. Instead, it gives people the strength to tackle problems head on, overcome adversity and move on with their lives.
Resilient people learn from their mistakes, they look at their failures and mistakes as lessons to be learned from, and as opportunities for growth.
According to many experts, resilience is actually quite common and people are very capable of learning the skills that it takes to become more resilient. Where should our children foster those skills? This is in our hands.
We have to use our school programs, our teaching strategies, our methods of classroom organization and tools for teaching, to build resilient mind-set of our children.
So let´s discover this magic world of resilience, let´s set our mind to be resilient as we as teachers need to be role models for the students.
